
Dr. Paul Newcombe
Director of Statistics and Predictive Modelling, Statistics and Data Science Innovation Hub, GSK
Dr. Paul Newcombe received his PhD in Statistical Genetics from LSHTM in 2009. His career has since spanned both industry and academia, with roles at GSK, AstraZeneca, and eight years at the MRC Biostatistics Unit, University of Cambridge, where he focused on developing methodology for quantitative ‘omics problems. He is now a Director of Statistics and Predictive Modelling in the Statistics and Data Science Innovation Hub at GSK. His work centres on the use of biomarkers in drug development — from discovery using advanced statistical and machine learning methods, to their application in enabling translational science and precision medicine.
